Wow. I haven't updated this blog in a while. I'm taking it easy after a fairly minor surgery...hopefully won't wait til the next one to post again!

Farmer's market is of course over for the season but I'm still selling online. Mostly at Bonanza.com.

I'm trying to figure out if this little Silkie rooster is a "splash" color. He's kind of blue/gray with rust colored spots.

I made some soap with swirls today. The scent is called Energizing, an orange-gingery essential oil blend.

Miley the Poodle

Finally made it to the groomer's on Tuesday and doesn't she look better now!

I really couldn't stand not being able to see her eyes so I spent 2 hours on Sunday trimming her face with scissors. I am obviously not a professional! She did seem happier though.

This is a standard poodle we brought home last Friday as a pet for Erin. I guess you could say she was kind of a rescue as her coat was really a mess!
The woman who gave her to us said her hair hadn't been cut in 2 years, I'm inclined to believe it!
Is there a face under all that hair?

I'd like to trade this little 16 month old AMHR registered bay filly for another horse for Erin. She'll be pretty good sized and should make a nice little driving horse.

My daughter Erin is 12 and has high functioning Autism. She loves to ride but needs a new horse! This is my mare, Snow, and she's just a little too sensitive and high spirited to make a good therapy horse.

Sugar Cube Hand Scrubs

Here's the product I was taking pictures of my horse for the other day...
My Arabian, Phantom, is on this particular label.
It's a little Shea Butter sugar cube sized hand scrub. You just hold one or two under very warm water for several seconds to soften them, then massage into hands and rinse. They contain an emulsifier so everything rinses away cleanly when you're through.

I was taking some pictures of my horses to use on labels today and I got one I thought was kind of funny. It's Phantom's eye and you can see the reflection of my hand and camera clearly in it.
If I had been trying for that shot I couldn't have done it.

The Tahlequah Farmer's Market ended this past Saturday. After standing in the chilly wind for 4 hours the vendors that were present decided there wasn't much point in setting up through the end of the month. The vegetable growers had let us know that their gardens were just about played out anyway. But it was a good year and I'm really looking forward to the next season.

This early cessation did mean that if I'm going to sell soap online I need to get in gear! I had signed up for an online shop and started taking pictures of my products to upload. Therein lies the problem. I discovered I'm really not very good at taking product pictures! At the FM people pick up my soap, "mmm, that smells lovely" and then buy it. I guess that's not going to happen online and so I'm trying to take pictures that show my soap in a positive light. Taking pictures inside was clearly not working so I went to the barn and found some lovely green hay and used that as a backdrop. On Tuesday, I went by Spring Creek and tried to get some good shots by the rushing water. It was really pretty and peaceful but I kept slipping around on the rocks.

Today...I made a batch of Egg Yolk soap in Honey & Shea. It's a buttery yellow color and smells good even now before it's cured.

Oatmeal milk and honey fragranced soap. Goat milk of course! Shoppers at the Tahlequah Farmer's Market gave this one a thumbs up this weekend and almost bought me out. (if you click on the picture it zooms in for a better look)
